Should I stay or should I go?

This is a decision often faced if you are living with the person who has a drink/drug problem. This a difficult decision to make. It is also an individual decision. It is your decision. Others may tell you should stay or you should go and they have a right to their opinion but it is not up to them. It is your decision to make.

You can weigh up this decision. You can weigh up the advantages and disadvantages for you and for others if you were to stay or go. Some people find it useful when weighing up life decisions to think about all the options by writing them down.

You may decide to stay and continue supporting the person to change their drinking/drug use. You may decide that life would be better for you or others if you are apart. You will make the decision that you think is right for you at that moment. It is okay to change your mind at a later date.
